This is Me

This is Me is a multi-media exploration of identity project.

Working across different media including video, photography, animation and music, This Is Me seeks to tell stories that inhabit our communities within their history and identity. Stories are told and listened to, and in so doing new skills and higher levels of confidence are gained, a fresh understanding and communication is created between individuals, communities and the wider world. This Is Me workshops provide hands on-artistic creativity and community owned art through digital images and sounds to accompany the stories of our existence.

Premiere of River Row Creative Arts Film

River Row Creative Arts Group premiered their film ‘Under the Spires‘ last week at the Strule Arts Centre Cinema in Omagh. The premiere was attended by film buffs, cast and crew and showcased a fantastic example of collaboration. The film was produced by the group with additional workshops from facilitator and film-maker Cyril Kelly as part of the CAP This is Me programme. Under the Spires was set in Jail Square and depicted Omagh during the World War featuring authentic costumes and vehicles of the era.

Peter McLaughlin wrote and directed Under the Spires and included a humorous script involving local people going about their business with the backdrop of  the war.

This short film did not try to tell the  whole story of  the town during the war, rather it is a momentary time-slip that will allow audiences to see a snapshot of  life in the Castle Street area during the years of the war.

The production was filmed, edited and mastered by Soupstone Productions, and the actors were from River Row’s theatre group and youth theatre. River Row are a dynamic community arts group which has staged a number of events over the past two years. Members are currently in rehearsal for their next project, a play called ‘Raisins Aren’t Sexy’ which will be staged in the Strule Arts Centre on 5-7 June.
